The trail initially runs gently through vineyards and orchards, offering beautiful panoramic views over the Überetsch region all the way to the city of Bolzano. Once you reach the forest, follow path no. 12 to the well-known Castle Trail. A narrow path then leads you to the Kreideturm, once an outpost of the impressive Hocheppan Castle.
As the elevation increases, the route becomes slightly more challenging, until you pass through the historic castle gate into the inner courtyard of Hocheppan. Here, the castle tavern invites you to enjoy a relaxing break – a place where history and South Tyrolean lifestyle come together in a very special way. For adventure seekers, a nearby archery course is also available.
The hike continues towards Boymont: first descending steeply into a small gorge, then across stairs and a bridge to the opposite side. Through shaded forest, path no. 14 leads you to the third castle ruin. Here too, a charming place to stop for refreshments awaits, along with impressive views.
Finally, the return route takes you back to the trail junction and from there directly to Castle Korb. After around two hours of walking, this varied circular hike comes to an end – rich in nature, history, and moments of genuine enjoyment.
