Sure you can pedal away in the Gym at the Weinegg spa hotel but we guarantee that one of the many mountain bike tours that take you right through the charming vineyard scenery of South Tyrol's south and high up to the Mendola/Mendelkamm are much more beautiful.
Popular mountain bike tours lead through the Monticolo/Montiggl forest, into the vineyards, past castles and estates, turning biking into a feast for the eyes and cycling in South Tyrol is an extraordinary pleasure with great views high up surrounded by steep rock faces.
Sample the rich variety of mountain bike tours on offer to the full. At the Weinegg hotel we have free bike hire, guided mountain bike tours are also on our weekly programme.
The South Tyrolean Apfelradweg runs between Lagundo/Algund and Bolzano/Bozen, is roughly 40 kilometres long and winds through unique scenery. This mountain tour is highly recommended when the apple trees are in blossom. The South Tyrolean Apfelweg is part of the famous Val d'Adige/Etschtal cycle path.
The Valle Isarco/Eisacktal cycle path leads from Brennero/Brenner via Bressanone/Brixen to Bolzano/Bozen and is 96 kilometres long in total. The tarmacked path first leads between Colle Isarco/Gossensass and Brennero/Brenner via the old railway line and offers a stunning view along the entire route.
The starting point is the wine village of Caldaro/Kaltern (Cornaiano/Girlan – Caldaro/Kaltern 10 min). Cycle to Corona/Graun on forest roads via San Antonio/St. Anton and Castelvecchio/Altenburg. From Corona/Graun cycle a section on a tarmacked road towards Favogna/Fennberg and then continue on the Hirschbrunn forest road to Favogna/Fennberg. Take a slight detour to the wonderful Favogna/Fennberg lake on this mountain bike tour. After a lunch stop continue on a steep forest trail towards Magrè/Magreid-Niclara/Entiklar (trail no. 3 and 3a). In Niclara/Entiklar continue along trail no. 7 to Cortaccia/Kurtatsch. Take the WK Termeno/Tramin trail to Termeno/Tramin and a steep mountain road to Castelvecchio/Altenburg via Söll and then back to the starting point in Caldaro/Kaltern. On this mountain bike tour you can expect impressive insights into the holiday region of South Tyrol's south.
