The picturesque wine village of Girlan | Eppan sparkles during the Christmas season with artistic decorations crafted from old wine barrel staves – affectionately called Taufen in the local dialect. These unique pieces bring a warm, authentic festive atmosphere to the village.
The idea was born when wood artist Rudi Wiedmer began decorating his own courtyard – and those of friends – with creative stave artworks a few years ago. Today, commissioned by Weinwelt Girlan, he has crafted over 30 stunning pieces that are true eye-catchers by day and by night.
From 1 December to 7 January, the people of Girlan invite you to take a leisurely stroll through their festively adorned lanes.
